My images often arise from the memory of a place or from an intimate observation of nature.
Rocks, weather, water, light are among the elements in a landscape arrangement. During the
process of painting, I enjoy the discovery of odd juxtapositions and unexpected color harmonies.
I see a random and beautiful quirkiness in how nature places things in the world and
I enjoy making paintings in that same spirit.

When I am present in the places that attract me, there seems to arise a playful dialogue between the
place and my imagination. It is from this dialogue that images emerge. They are often expressed in an
abstract or surrealist language.

Nature, as I experience it, is the embodiment of surprise and unpredictability. It does nothing but change.
It seems disorderly. Each form is unique. It seems to toss these forms haphazardly throughout time
and space. Something pops up here and disappears over there. Nature thrives when cared for and
when left alone to do its thing.

I think it delights in being seen.
